Project No.: 0013,  Area in camp: Central Camp, Project Name: Planting Trees Assigned to: Troop 61-KI-BC 2011

Project Description: T-61 is anticipating that Davy Tree Service will donate 4 trees to T-61 to subsequently be planted at 7 Ranges Scout Reservation. Ranger Skip Eidam will designate the area for planting (tentatively the Peninsula).

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Buckeye Council:
TOOLS: Ranger Skip Eidam or his designee to operate the tractor / auger
Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit:

MATERIALS: T-61 to provide the trailer for transporting the trees / Trees / plastic piping to protect the trunk from animals
TOOLS: If unavailable from 7 Ranges: shovels, post hole diggers, spud bars, stakes, twine / rope, mulch
LABOR: Adult / youth members (Hours: based upon previous years usually poor weather / ground conditions - all day)

Project Description: Paint steel pipe outriggers for summer camp tents at Camp Akela campsites.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Buckeye Council: MATERIALS: Paint (oil base primmer), paint thinner

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: TOOLS: Gloves, wire brushes, paint brushes, rags, old cloths. LABOR:  Scouts with adult supervision. Do as many campsites as you can.   Report the campsites completed to the Area Coordinator. (All day project)

Hold for 2013 - Project No.: 0048,  Area in camp: Calumet, Project Name: Tent Pole Repair Assigned to: Troop 454-OC-GT 2011

Project Description: At the garage locate by the tree farm, pull all of the tent poles out of the rake, inspect and repair as needed (in replacing the pegs on top of the pole, use glue before installing.  then paint the top 6 inches, yellow and reinstall into the rake.  Give a count of the poles upon turning in your paper work at the end of the day.

Hold for 2013 - Project No.: 0058 Area in camp: Central Canp Project Name: Tree Removal Assigned to: X 2011

Project Description: Thin out the trees along Dinning Hall Road at Adena campsite.  Remove selected trees and trim other trees as directed by Ranger Skip.  Dispose of tree top as directed by Ranger Skip.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: TOOLS: Gloves - No youth to handle power tools or fuel. Anyone operating a chain saw on Buckeye Council property must have completed BSA Chainsaw Safety Training course.  


 

Old T&V Project - May 1 or 15 - Project No.: 00??,  Area in camp: Akela, Project Name: Destroy Multi-flora Rose & Grape Vine - May 1 or 15 Assigned to: X 2010 Need many Troops

Project Description: Multi- flora Rose - In most locations multi-flora rose will not have to be handled. Use loppers to cut the branches of the rose bush into short pieces and let them lay flat on the ground where they fall. Saw off the stump at ground level. Uproot the stump with a shovel or mattock.

    Grape Vine - Cut the grape vine off at ground level and six feet above the ground.  An adult leader to spray "Roundup" on the grape vine stump.

    The GTW Coordinator will assign an area for your unit to remove multi-flora rose and or grapevine when you check in for the Good Turn Weekend. Check with the GTW Coordinator to receive your "Thorn & Vine Buster" token and patch, for Scouts and Adults that worked more than 4 hours on this project.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: TOOLS: Gloves, eye protection, loppers for each participant. One bow saw, shovel and mattock for about every 10 people using loppers. LABOR: One or more units. Any number of Scouts with adult supervision. SKILL: Persistence (All day project)

Project Description: Prepare lunch, serve, and clean up after on the Second Good Turn Weekend
