GTP Projects at Camp Rodman that can be completed anytime

for the Good Turn Pipestone Requirement for Summer Camp

 to make arrangements to work on one or more projects.

Then obtain a “Camp Use Permit” from Shirley (330-580-4272, ext. 141) at the Scout Office.

Project No.: 0301  Area in camp: Camp Wide Project Name: Destroy Multi-flora Rose (whole camp) fields and trails - Rodman - Assigned to:  X Need many Troops 2010

Project Description:

Multi- flora Rose - In most locations multi-flora rose will not have to be handled. Use loppers to cut the branches of the rose bush into short pieces and let them lay flat on the ground where they fall. Saw off the stump at ground level. Uproot the stump with a shovel or mattock.

    Grape Vine - Cut the grape vine off at ground level and six feet above the ground.  An adult leader to spray "Roundup" on the grape vine stump.

    Jon Karns will assign an area for your unit to remove multi-flora rose and or grapevine when you check in for the Good Turn Workday. Check with Jon to receive your "Thorn & Vine Buster" token and patch, for Scouts and Adults that worked more than 4 hours on this project.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Buckeye Council: MATERIALS:  Spray bottle with "Roundup"

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: TOOLS: Gloves, eye protection, loppers for each participant. One bow saw, shovel and mattock for about every 10 people using loppers.  LABOR: Many Troops. Any number of Scouts with adult supervision.   SKILL: Persistence   (All day project)

TOOLS: Gloves, Chain Saw and Log Splitter

LABOR:  No youth to handle power tools or fuel. Anyone operating a chain saw on Buckeye Council property must have completed BSA Chainsaw Safety Training course.
