Project Description: Cut out undesirable trees and bush at Akela Campsites.  Stack "firewood" and "spars" by bulletin boards. Take brush and place into the tree line.  Talk to Ranger Skip about tree removal location.

Project Description:   Remove trees and brush from Beaver Pond dam to ground level.  Drag brush into trees off the dam as directed.  Weed whip weeds on dam.

            Our goal is to get the dam surface vegetation to all grass so that it can be maintained by using only weed whips.  Any suggestions to meet this goal will be appreciated.

No for 2010 Project No.: 0013  Area in camp: Back 40 Project Name: Hole for Frost Free Water Valve Replacement  Assigned to: Troop 862-OC-SK 2009

Project Description: On the road (tree farm road) past Prophet's Rest, is a frost free water valve to be replaced.
Dig up the old frost free down to the main water pipe supply line, insure the hole at the pipe supply line is 4 ft around or more to permit an adult to cut out the old valve and replace with new.  Hole may be deeper that 4', slope sides of hole to prevent cave in and mark hole with colored tape. (valve work to be done by others)

Project Description: Remove all shingles on the roof of the Shot gun building, replace plywood, and broken wood then lay down new felt and new shingles.  This is repairing damage from a tree that had fallen during a storm.  The tree has been removed.

No for 2010 Project No.: 0007  Area in camp: Back 40 Project Name: Rifle Range Fence Assigned to: Troop 197-OC-GW 2009

Project Description: Repair split rail fence at shotgun range, and between archery and rifle range and fix seat that was removed.  Replacing split rail fence that was taken down to replace culvert and at shoot gun range, most material located at the rifle range.  This fence was removed to permit a new culvert to be installed, reinstall fence and paint as needed after all work is completed, spread grass seed over the area that is not used as a walkway.

Project Description: Shooting Pond is located between the Outdoor Skill area and the COPE course.

1.  Remove trees and brush from Shooting Pond dam to ground level.  Pile the trees and brush off the dam to the south for future burning or removal.   Weed whip weeds on dam.

2. Cut brush and weed back 10’ around the original shore line of the Shooting pond.  Drag the brush into the trees.   

            Our goal is to open up the pond area so that it can be determined if and how the pond can be re-established.  Any suggestions to meet this goal will be appreciated.

Project Description: By the tree farm building is a garage we use to store bunks, clean way the weeds and trash from around the building, wire-bush wall as needed, and stain building, including the garage door.

Project Description: Starting on the peninsula area, inspect all the campsite's picnic tables, repair or replace wood as need, continue inspection and repair to The Ridge, Magic Mountain, Central Camp, then Back 40 campsites (est. 8 to 10 tables needing repair).

Work to be completed:

Blue Jacket - 3 tables need repaired - 3- 2"x6" - 1-2"x10"

Lenape - 1 table need repaired - 2 leg braces and 2 feet for legs

Glickican - 2 tables need repaired - 2-2"x6" - 1-2"x10"

Pugwug - 1 table need repaired - 2-2"x10"

Surveyor's Point - 1 Table need repaired - 1-2"x10"

Yes John Re-Write in 2010 High Priority Project - Project No.: 0028  Area in camp: Central Camp Project Name:  Don Brown Lake Dam Maintenance Assigned to:  (Troop 1-SE-BC April 25) (Troop 265-SE-BC April 25) Need an additional Troop 2009

Project Description: 1. We are required to remove all vegetation from the riprap (rock areas) on or near the Don Brown Lake Dam.

            Remove all trees and brush from riprap areas to ground level. 

              a. Lake side of dam – Make piles of brush on top of the dam to be removed by others.

              b. Down stream side

                 i.   Ditch on east and west side of the dam - Make piles of trees and brush alone the mowed grass to be removed by others.

                 ii.  Large riprap area at base of dam – Make piles of trees and brush off to the side of the riprap area for future burning or removal.   

            Our goal is to get the riprap area so that the vegetation can be controlled with weed spray.  Any suggestions to meet this goal will be appreciated.

2.  Remove riprap and debris from the concrete stilling basin (adult & older scout work in shallow water - ladder needed)

Project Description: Troop 35 will continue to work on the snake trail from Pugwug to dining hall working on the fence line, digging holes for the poles and fitting the railings and lashing and securing them with screws.  We also might work on the steps on the upper half if we are able to get some railroad ties.

Project Description: Dig ditch in polar bear to creek about 140ft.and 18" deep, lay in drain pipe and cover over.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: TOOLS: Gloves, shovels, picks, rakes.

Project Description: Rebuild station, and paint, (good project for small small group with one adult with carpenter skills.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Buckeye Council: MATERIALS: Small amount of wood & shingles.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: TOOLS: Carpenter tools, paint brushes, rags, scraper, wire brush.
LABOR: Small troop with adult knowledge of carpenter skills.
