Project No.: 0002, Area in camp: Calumet, Project Name: Revitalization of the campsites at Camp Calumet Assigned to: Troop 355-KI-BC 2010

Project Description: Cut down dead and fallen trees; cut trees up for firewood and stack - the long thin pieces to be used to line trails. Clean brush from campsites that has accumulated since last season. Basically the same project as in years past.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: TOOLS: Troop 355 from Killbuck district will provide all necessary tools, power tools and fuel to be used. No youth to handle power tools or fuel. Anyone operating a chain saw on Buckeye Council property must have completed BSA Chainsaw Safety Training course. Estimated hours involved - 6. Estimated number of Scouts - 25, Leaders - 8.

 

May 1 or 15 - Project No.: 0077, Area in camp: Calumet , Project Name: Destroy Multi-flora Rose & Grape Vine - May 1 or 15 Assigned to: (Troop 309-OC-GC 26 Scouts/ 8 Adults May 15) (Troop 38-NE-BC 11 Scouts/ 6 Adults May 15) (Troop 45-OC-HO 15 Scouts/7 Adults May 15)  2010 Need many Troops

Project Description: Multi- flora Rose - In most locations multi-flora rose will not have to be handled. Use loppers to cut the branches of the rose bush into short pieces and let them lay flat on the ground where they fall. Saw off the stump at ground level. Uproot the stump with a shovel or mattock.

    Grape Vine - Cut the grape vine off at ground level and six feet above the ground.  An adult leader to spray "Roundup" on the grape vine stump.

    The GTW Coordinator will assign an area for your unit to remove multi-flora rose and or grapevine when you check in for the Good Turn Weekend. Check with the GTW Coordinator to receive your "Thorn & Vine Buster" token and patch, for Scouts and Adults that worked more than 4 hours on this project.

Project No.: 0124, Area in camp: Calumet, Project Name: Install Gate Assigned to: Troop 197-OC-GW 2010 - N

Project Description: Install gate on the west edge of the Lake Don Brown dam.  Location will be marked with stakes. The pivot side of the gate will be located on the north side of the road,  Dig 3 ft deep holes, set the post (and temp. brace up) mix and pour 3 bags of premix concrete and pour around the base of each pole. Insure the gate is level before pouring concrete. The gate to be install is located by the latrine in Calumet,

Project Description: Seal the wood parts of the seven Cope stations

Project No.: 0048,  Area in camp: Calumet, Project Name: Tent Pole Repair Assigned to: Troop 2041-SB-BC 2010

Project Description: At the garage locate by the tree farm, pull all of the tent poles out of the rake, inspect and repair as needed (in replacing the pegs on top of the pole, use glue before installing.  then paint the top 6 inches, yellow and reinstall into the rake.  Give a count of the poles upon turning in your paper work at the end of the day.

Project Description: Walk Hutch's Trail, remove existing blue metal trail markers and nails from live trees.  Remark trail using white paint as directed.  Clear downed trees, report any problems on the trail and note on the project sheet the section of trail completed.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Buckeye Council: MATERIALS: 2" wide scraper, 2" paint brush, 2"x6" marking guide and water based White paint.

Project Description: Remove and weeds or plants within the beach area then spread 2 loads of sand at beach area

Project Description: Paint steel pipe outriggers for summer camp tents at Central Camp campsites.

Project Description: On the swimming docks only, replace bad wood (look for painted marks) scrape and/or wash off the top of the docks, remove all bird droppings and seal deck.

Project Description: Install gate by fence line near Neta Shelter, Location will be marked with stakes. Project No.: 0123 Area in camp: Central Camp Project Name: New drain Assigned to: Troop 60-OC-GW 2010 - N

Project Description: Next to the old scoutmaster’s lounge on the outside is a gutter drain coming down the building and dumping water onto the ground, Dig a trench, (12” deep) away from the building and install a drain pipe from the building to 30 ft away from the building. As you fill in the trench compact the ground in 3 inch layers

Project No.: 0116 Area in camp: Central Camp Project Name: Remove Existing Culvert Assigned to: Troop 60-OC-GW  2010 - N

Project Description: In front of the trading post is a damaged metal culvert, remove the culvert.  Fill the trench with shale available in the area and top off the trench with excess limestone from the road to Eco-Lodge. As you fill in the trench compact the ground in 3 inch layers.   Grade area to drain as instructed.  Move the pipe to the metal scrap pile at the Maintenance Building.

Project Description: In the woods between the main parking lot and the Ranger’s house is a woods area,  The new trail will be marked with blue ribbon, clean the area, remove brush and place wood chips onto the new trail,

May 15 - Project No.:0044,  Area in camp: Dinning Hall, Project Name: May 15 - Dining Hall Service Assigned to: Troop 922-KI-BC (20 Scouts - 8 Adults) (Troop 61-KI-BC 25 Scouts/10 Adults - last in) ( Troop 4075-KI-BC 25 Scouts/5 Adults Only if needed - last Troop to apply)  2010

(Last year: Troop 75-KI-BC (12 Scouts - 4 Adults) , Troop 922-KI-BC (14 Scouts - 7 Adults) , Troop 61-KI-BC ( 9 Scouts - 2 Adults +/-) )

Project Description: Report to Dining Hall at 8:30 AM to clean and set up tables and chairs for lunch, eat lunch at 11:00 AM, serve lunch at 12:00 PM, clean up after lunch and any other work needed in the Dining Hall.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Buckeye Council: MATERIALS: Food, lunch supplies, Windex, Paper Towels.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: LABOR: 35 Scouts plus adult leaders from one or more Units. SKILLS: Ability to follow directions, transport food on trays, be clean and pleasant. This is an ideal project for units with younger scouts. Five older Scouts will be selected to work in kitchen.

Project Description: Because of additional spring events, we need all of the tents and cots on the Peninsula campsite set up on the of May 15th Good Turn weekend. Tents and pole will be located at the campsite, will need truck to move the cots from the storage area to the campsite.

Project Description: Troop 61 has been informed by Davy Tree Service that 4 to 6 trees will be donated to the troop to subsequently be planted at 7 Ranges Scout Reservation. Ranger Skip will designate the area which tentatively is on the Peninsula, location to be marked with a stick.
