Project Description: Multi- flora Rose - In most locations multi-flora rose will not have to be handled. Use loppers to cut the branches of the rose bush into short pieces and let them lay flat on the ground where they fall. Saw off the stump at ground level. Uproot the stump with a shovel or mattock.

    Grape Vine - Cut the grape vine off at ground level and six feet above the ground.  An adult leader to spray "Roundup" on the grape vine stump.

    The GTW Coordinator will assign an area for your unit to remove multi-flora rose and or grapevine when you check in for the Good Turn Weekend. Check with the GTW Coordinator to receive your "Thorn & Vine Buster" token and patch, for Scouts and Adults that worked more than 4 hours on this project.

Project Description: 1. Wipe down the walls in the old Scoutmaster Lounge, then paint all 4 walls and trim around windows

2) Wipe down the walls in the lower room (old Staff lounge) which will be the new Scoutmaster’s lounge. Then paint the 4 walls.

Project No.: 0015,  Area in camp: Central Camp, Project Name:  Bass Pond Dam Maintenance Assigned to:  Troop 90-NE-BC 2010

Project Description: 1.  Remove trees/brush from dump rock area at toe of Bass Pond dam.  Drag brush into trees on west end of dam.  Weed whip grass and weeds on dam.

2. Cut brush and weed around shore line of the Bass pond at water level and remove any obstructions preventing the flow of water out the dam's overflow area.  Drag brush into trees on west side of pond.

    Our goal is to get the dam surface vegetation to all grass so that it can be maintained by using only weed whips.  Any suggestions to meet this goal will be appreciated.

Project Description: Platforms needing repair or rebuild each as needed.  This is a camp-wide project, mark on your job sheet what camps are completed before turning in paperwork at end of day.  Check with Ranger Skip before repairing the platforms in the Miami campsite.

Project No.: 0030  Area in camp: Turkey Ridge Project Name:  Old Oak Pond Maintenance Assigned to:  hold for Troop 101-WA-BC 2010

Project Description: Old Oak Pond is behind the Smith House near the Red Barn

1.  Remove trees and brush from Old Oak Pond dam to ground level.  Pile the trees and brush off the dam to the south for future burning or removal.   Weed whip weeds on dam.

2. Cut brush and weed back 10’ around the shore line of the Old Oak Bass pond.  Pile the brush for future burning or removal.   

            Our goal is to open up the pond for fishing and get the dam surface vegetation to all grass so that it can be maintained by using only weed whips.  Any suggestions to meet this goal will be appreciated.

Material needed, 4  2x4x12, 1  2x6x10, nuts and bolts, If troop supplies all materials, they can route their troop numbers into the wood, If troop wishes to have Council supply the material, only “7R” can be routed into the wood.  Summer Camp will have the new benches painted in summer camp as a good turn project.

Project Description: Multi- flora Rose - In most locations multi-flora rose will not have to be handled. Use loppers to cut the branches of the rose bush into short pieces and let them lay flat on the ground where they fall. Saw off the stump at ground level. Uproot the stump with a shovel or mattock.

    Grape Vine - Cut the grape vine off at ground level and six feet above the ground.  An adult leader to spray "Roundup" on the grape vine stump.

    The GTW Coordinator will assign an area for your unit to remove multi-flora rose and or grapevine when you check in for the Good Turn Weekend. Check with the GTW Coordinator to receive your "Thorn & Vine Buster" token and patch, for Scouts and Adults that worked more than 4 hours on this project.

Project Description: Just before entering Akela there is area the east to be used for future campsite development, clear all brush and trees down to the ground (to permit grass to planted and mowed) with in a area marked with yellow safety tape.  Any trees not to be cut will be marked with a painted stripe.  This is a large area, any trees to be remove by chain saw will require the operator to have completed the Boy Scouts of America “Chain Saw Safety Course” Trees to be cut up to fire wood size and all brush to be pile in large brush piles.

Project Description: Multi- flora Rose - In most locations multi-flora rose will not have to be handled. Use loppers to cut the branches of the rose bush into short pieces and let them lay flat on the ground where they fall. Saw off the stump at ground level. Uproot the stump with a shovel or mattock.

    Grape Vine - Cut the grape vine off at ground level and six feet above the ground.  An adult leader to spray "Roundup" on the grape vine stump.

    The GTW Coordinator will assign an area for your unit to remove multi-flora rose and or grapevine when you check in for the Good Turn Weekend. Check with the GTW Coordinator to receive your "Thorn & Vine Buster" token and patch, for Scouts and Adults that worked more than 4 hours on this project.

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Buckeye Council: MATERIALS:  Spray bottle with "Roundup"

Materials, Tools and  Labor provided by Assigned Unit: TOOLS: Gloves, eye protection, loppers for each participant. One bow saw, shovel and mattock for about every 10 people using loppers.  LABOR: Many Troops. Any number of Scouts with adult supervision.   SKILL: Persistence   (All day project)
