Detail information for the

Good Turn Weekends

organized by the Busy Beavers

 at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation

The April 30, May 1 & 2, 2010 and May 14, 15 & 16, 2010 Good Turn Weekends at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation are organized by the Busy Beavers.  Come join in the fun and fellowship while helping to maintain and develop the Seven Ranges Scout Reservation.  Your Scouts and Leaders will also be meeting the 2010 Pipestone Good Turn Requirement.

Saturday, May 1 and May 15 are the GTW workdays.  Troops will work on projects from 9:00 a.m. to about 4:00 p.m.  A free lunch will be provided in the Dining Hall at 12:15 p.m. for all approved Troops participating in the Good Turn Weekend workday.

Camping is free all weekend.  The camp is closed to all other camping and activities, so units can plan their own activities for the remainder of the weekend.  Troops camping must check in with the Campmaster upon arrival and before leaving camp.

You can apply to participate in a Busy Beaver Good Turn Weekend (BB GTW) by filling out a “Unit Application” on the internet.

Go to the Buckeye Council web site: http://www.buckeyecouncil.org , click on “Program” at top of page, then click “Camping and Outdoor Promotions” left side, then click “Boy Scout Summer Camp” right side, then click “Good Turn  for Pipestone” right side, then click on the “Unit Application” button,   fill out the form and click “Submit GTP Application”.

You will receive an email approving your Troop’s participation in the BB GTW with instruction on how to print out a form to be filled out and brought to the BB GTW.  This one form will be used for both the “Short Term Camp Use Roster” and the “Pipestone Good Turn Certification”.

Troops camping will present the “Short Term Camp Use Roster/Pipestone Good Turn Certification” form to the Campmaster at the Administration Building upon arrival at camp.  He will make a copy for his records and return the form to you so that you can present the form to the Pipestone Representative on Saturday morning.

An adult representative from each Troop will present the original “Short Term Camp Use Roster/Pipestone Good Turn Certification” form to the Pipestone Representative and receive final instruction on your Troop’s assigned project(s) between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Saturday.  This year the Pipestone Representative will be located in the Camp Office in the Administration Building.

All adults attending the Good Turn workday will be asked to attend a short review of the Pipestone Policy in the Staff Lounge below the Dining Hall.  The review will take place immediately after lunch.  Also Troops will be asked about the status of their project(s).  Adults will be excused from lunch before the Scouts.  Before lunch adult leaders should instruct their Scout leadership to return to the Troop’s work site after lunch and resume work.

An adult representative from each Troop will report to the Camp Office between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Saturday so the Pipestone Representative can approve the Pipestone Certification form and make a copy for your records.  Final status of your Troop’s project(s) and total hours worked will also be obtained.  The GTP ribbon and Thorn & Vine patches/tokens (if earned) will be awarded.

Go to the GTP web pages to find a project.  Then click on the “Request to do a Proj.” button, fill out the form and click “Submit”.
